Up All Night: Epilogue

Padore and I have been brainstorming on this story for months. It’s still a work in progress, which means many more chapters await you. It begins pre-revelation and I take liberties with the canon, so brace yourselves for that. 🙂

Well, of course they were! 🙂 I was thinking that I hadn’t seen your smiley faces & was wondering about your surgery.

      • LOL I do use smiley faces a lot, don’t I? 🙂 Surgery is approaching and I just managed to get some help with the littles during the week of recovery. Pretty sweet! 🙂

Nothing at all wrong with using smiley faces, but I can see your smile through your words anyway! So glad you were able to get some help with the kids during recovery! That makes a huge difference! Let me know when you’re going so I can some prayers out for you!

      • I’ll be going under on the 21st in the hopes that I’ll be better by Thanksgiving. It would be a shame to not get to enjoy the sheer quantity of pies my mil makes. 🙂 I’m asking for lots of help, knowing I’ll need it. It’s a big step for me. I almost feel like and adult who can take care of herself. 🙂 Thanks for the love my way!

Always!! 🙂 OK, now I know the date, and I’ll certainly be thinking of you then although I’m sure we’ll chat before that. MIL making lots of stuff? Awesome! I never have to do anything. Our SIL does it all. Even the dishes!

      • Sweet! I love my SILs too. They are always so great during family parties…the husbands, meh. I’m sure my MIL will do extra stuff for me while I recover. She’s a good kind of mom fo sho. 🙂 She makes pie, my SIL makes pie, my other SIL makes cupcakes. What I’m saying is, I’ll be high on a sugar rush for the whole day. 🙂

Fantastic! Now you have to make sure you’ve got good coffee to go along with all those sweets! 🙂

Sounds like my kinda day! Forget the turkey! Bring on the good stuff! 🙂

      • I know, right? I’m all about the pie, and rolls, and gravy, and everything. K, I should just admit that I really enjoy food. That’s all. I’ll just stop being specific. 🙂 Pie is particularly good though, so it’s near the top of my list for sure! 🙂

Yeah, I was laying in bed this morning thinking about what different kinds I might make if we stayed home and went to my mom’s, and then I remembered I’m the world’s worst baker… On the other hand, all my experiments would stay here at home & I’d get to eat them! 🙂 Just what my short, chubby self needs, but hey! If it’s breakfast, it doesn’t count! 🙂

      • I have the opposite problem, everything I bake turns out pretty well, and then I have a counter full of deliciousness that is sure to tempt me. That’s why I only bake when I’m going to share. Leftovers are not a good idea. 🙂

I cook a lot, and I do that well. Fortunately my husband loves leftovers, and he takes them to work for lunch. He’s a big man, unfortunately now he’s getting bigger in the wrong way! 🙂 I try to bake though, it’s just never been my thing. I can cook damn near anything though, but I have a pretty hard time making portions for two. My kids end up with leftovers!

      • I can’t seem to cook for two either. I cook for 8, even though there are only four of us. My kids take hot lunches most of the time to school to the horror of their classmates (and delight of their teachers) as they try to figure out what in the hell they’re eating. LOL They’re adventurous eaters, and being vegetarian, we eat a lot of veggies and tofu. Most kids don’t even know what tofu is. Not mine. Baking is a lot like chemistry, and for some recipes, I weigh my ingredients (in grams, not ounces) for accuracy. It’s especially helpful since I mill my own whole wheat, which is much fluffier than anything you can buy. 🙂 It’s taken me years to get good at baking, but now, I’ve got most of it down. Candy-making is something I need to learn more about. The chemistry behind sugar caramelizing is spectacular. I could nerd out on it all night, so I’ll spare you. 🙂

WOW! You’re amazing! 🙂 And you can get your kids to eat tofu? That’s incredible! 🙂

After all those drugs I took in my misspent youth, you’d think I’d know more about chemistry! LOL! Nah! When it comes to anything scientific, I’m useless!

And you mill your own wheat? Amazing! Simply amazing! 🙂

      • I’m hardcore. All my Mormon friends wonder why I’m not one of them since food preservation and storage is part of their religion. 🙂 I mill once a month (or more in the winter), and I’m SO grateful for electric mills. I can’t imagine doing it by hand! Mine sounds like a jet taking off. It’s SO loud. Totally worth it though.

The chemistry part of my botany degree is the one I’ve used the most, so cooking/baking is a natural extension of that. There’s not a lot of wiggle room in baking, which is very different with how I cook (adding this and that).

It’s true, my kids LOVE tofu. They love it. Seriously. It’s funny too, because I didn’t even try it until I was in my 20s. They also love Brussels sprouts and all manner of green things. I’m afraid I’ve shared my dislike of beets with them though. They keep trying them and so do I, but they still taste like sweet dirt. LOL. Thanks for thinking I’m amazing…not sure I deserve that…but I’ll take it. 😉
