Third Time’s The Charm: Chapter 3 Spoilers!

Here’s a little something to tide you over until tomorrow. 🙂

A ball of nerves settled in Sookie’s stomach as she went to her room. She sat on the edge of her bed, but couldn’t hold still. She paced the floor for a few minutes, and then returned to her bed. It smelled like Eric. What if he doesn’t come back? What if he gets killed? She buried her face in the sheets and cried. I’ll feel it, won’t I? I’ll know because we’re bonded.

That’s it!

She made the bed and sat quietly. She closed her eyes and focused her entire brain on Eric. A pulse of nervous energy washed over her. She took a deep breath. The anxiousness lingered, like a sustained note during the climax of an action movie. He’ll call me if he needs me, right? How would I even get to him? Stop. Focus. Another deep breath. She looked at the clock on her nightstand. The dagger, still shiny with Eric’s blood rested on top of her book. He’s been gone fifteen minutes. She picked up the knife, wrapped it in a scarf and tucked it in her purse next to her hotel key. She started pacing again, but then stopped dead in her tracks. The tension coming from Eric peaked and then relief replaced it. Sookie let out a shaky breath and smiled. She could feel him coming back to her. Fast.

Third Time’s The Charm: Chapter 1 Spoilers

I should probably mention that I meant this to be a one shot. And then I couldn’t stop writing. All kinds of other stuff needed to happen before their HEA, so I was forced to keep going (practically at gun point. My muse is a terror, I tell you!). Also, FairytaleAmber stepped up to the plate and helped me edit this story. Give her some love, she’s amazing. Please to enjoy:

Quinn. What a waste of time. I can’t believe he lied about everything. I learned more about him in a five-minute conversation with Jake than I have over the few months we’ve been seeing each other. It’s not much of a relationship, that’s for sure. We spent one night together. One night. That’s all he’s willing to give me. I think I deserve more than that! He hasn’t even kissed me since I’ve been here. He’s too busy working. Same old story, different day.

Sookie checked the stage, hoping to catch another glimpse of Eric. Now there’s a man who knows how to give me what I need. Why didn’t I try harder to make things work with him? Why is everything so complicated?

Sophie-Anne touched her arm. “Sookie?”

She blinked, erasing the thoughts in her head and focusing on her boss. “Sorry, I got a little … distracted.” She gave her a half smile. “What were you saying?”

“Kentucky and I need to talk. Will you go fetch our missing luggage?”

Sookie nodded and excused herself. She glanced at Andre’s blank face before she left. She shuddered as she thought about what could be churning around in his mind. He’s definitely not thinking about lying boyfriends or longing for exes. That’s for damn sure. She had almost made it to the door when she noticed a tray of wine glasses filled with blood tipping toward her. A shriek left her lips as the syrupy red liquid spilled down the front of her blouse and dripped on the floor.

The server who had been carrying the tray apologized up one side and down another as he bent over to clean up the shards of glass, revealing Frannie with a gleeful smile plastered on her face.

Here’s a little something to tide you over. All mistakes are my own.

“Is she coming back tonight?” Pam asked after her latest adoring fan slithered away.

He shook his head. “No. She’s working.”

“When are you leaving for Bon Temps?” She smiled.

“Shut up, Pam.”

She did but it didn’t erase the smug look on her face.

* * * *

Kneeling by the side of the couch, he inhaled deeply and held it. Sookie’s scent clung to the leather like morning dew on a blade of grass. He could almost taste her.

She wasn’t coming back, but that didn’t mean he couldn’t go to her. It was just before midnight.

“Pam, I’m leaving early tonight,” he said on his way past her.

Pam only smiled. The satisfaction of being right would make her a pain in the ass for a while, but he didn’t care.

I think you will be happy to know I am currently working on a rewrite of All Together Dead. After that? Well, let’s just say I’ve got a few brainstorming ideas I’m working on with some very giving readers. 🙂

Eric sat there, frowning. There’s no way that just happened. And yet, it did. Evidence surrounded him: the inside of his car smelled like her; wet, warm, and absolutely delicious, his pants were still around his ankles and his cock glistened, her sweet blood still lingered in his mouth, and her bra and panties adorned the passenger seat.

She was angry. He could still feel it coming off her from inside her house. Their bond made it impossible to ignore. She was angry and frustrated. Not a good combination.

He still couldn’t figure out what he’d said that set her off. He simply stated a fact: he was pleased with the outcome. She yielded to him. He had been trying to bed her for years. Having sex with someone while under a witches spell didn’t count as far as he was concerned, but their brief wild encounter moments ago certainly did, and he wanted more.

He opened his cell phone and dialed her house. Someone picked up after the sixth ring, but they didn’t speak.

“I have something that belongs to you.” He couldn’t suppress his smile.

Sookie let out a low growl.

“Let me know when you want them back.”

“Go to hell, Eric!” The phone disconnected.

He laughed and then wiggled back into his pants, carefully zipping them up before he drove to Shreveport. Pam would be waiting for him.

Spoilers: Sookie’s Present, Chapter 11

This is why you follow me, isn’t it? 🙂 Here’s a little taste of the last chapter to tide you over…

Sun was pouring through the window when a clatter woke Sookie.

A nurse had dropped Sookie’s breakfast on the floor. She was young and inexperienced, and was terrified of being fired.

Sookie smiled. “Don’t worry, I’m going home soon. My Gran makes the best biscuits in Louisiana, so it’d be a real shame to fill up on bright green gelatin.”

The nurse laughed and thanked her, and then bent over the IV and the machine next to Sookie’s bed to check her vitals.

Sookie looked at the pillow next to her and found a note. A smile spread from ear to ear.

See you tonight. Eric.

Spoiler: Mr. January

I cannot thank you enough for the love and support I’ve gotten from you over the last few days. It is overwhelming and amazing. I think this is the best way to thank you. 🙂

Edits aren’t done, so all mistakes are my own…

Let’s assume for a minute that at the end of Dead as a Doornail, Eric doesn’t disappear from Sookie’s life. Let’s also assume that Quinn never comes to see her (they don’t go out or get involved … nothing). I’m hijacking the storyline somewhere between Dead as a Doornail and Definitely Dead.

“So, what’s in the envelope?” she asked, cutting to the chase.

Eric smiled again, dazzling white and terrifying. “Proofs.”

She frowned. “Proofs?”

“Fangtasia’s Vampire Hunks.” His fingers played with the clasp, but he didn’t open it.

“Right, I remember you mentioned something about that.” Her heart raced. He said he was Mr. January. “So you flew out here to…”

“Ask you which one you like the most. We had a very long shoot.”

Sookie’s heart threatened to jump out of her chest.

“Pam cast her vote.”

“And you want my opinion?” She gulped when his thumb and finger squeezed the piece of metal holding the paper closed.

He nodded and then pulled out several sheets of glossy paper. Five, to be exact. Five, eight by ten pictures of Eric. Nude.

“Oh,” Sookie said, hoping he wouldn’t hear her, but of course, he did. She pushed her plate and cup out of the way. Heat spread through her entire body as he arranged the pictures in front of her.

As blandly as if he were talking about going grocery shopping, he began explaining the photo shoot. “First, the photographer had me on the bed,” he said as he pointed to the top row of pictures: in one, he was on his stomach, his lower back arched and his ass raised off the bed, creating a shadow under him, another he was turned to his side, a hint of a white fur robe peeked out from under his body, and the third, he was propped on one elbow with his fingers digging into the white fur.

“Uh huh,” Sookie said, nodding numbly.

“But I thought this was better.” He tapped on the picture where he was standing in front of the bed. Giant glittering snowflakes hung behind him, sparkling in the picture. A light trail of dark blond hair pointed south of his navel. The last picture was a slight variation of the standing one, but he was facing the camera more directly, hiding his ass.

Sookie licked her lips. Her glass was empty. I need a drink. She pushed away from the table, filled her glass, and drank it as slowly as possible, hoping it would give her heart enough time to calm down. It didn’t work.

When she returned to the table, Eric looked up expectantly. “Well?”

She smiled. “This one. You look,” she paused, thinking about what to say next. Delicious. Fabulous. Stunning. Amazing. Like a god. Like you need to bend me over this table and remind me how talented you are. She chuckled and finally said, “good.”

“You and I have similar taste.” He stared at the picture objectively and then put it back on top of the pile. “Pam voted for this one,” he pulled out the one on his stomach.

“I like that one too.” Because you can see your world-class ass. “But I like this one better.”

“It’s decided.” Another dazzling smile. “These are for you to keep.” His eyes bored into hers, making her mouth go dry.

This is going to be a little two-part story, short, hot, and sweet. Just like I like it. 🙂

Spoiler: Sookie’s Present Chapter 2

Here’s a little sneak peek at the next chapter. Thank you to everyone who followed me here from fanfiction. There’s no way I could risk posting this over there.

On a completely unrelated note, I wrote a short story and just published it through Kindle Direct Publishing on Amazon.com. It’s called Kiss & Ride. It’s a short, sweet, and HEA story, and oddly, the first PG-13 story I’ve ever written.  I’ve updated my September Roberts blog with all the details. If you have a Kindle and are interested in reading it, I’d love to know what you think! 🙂

Now, on to the spoiler (teaser), which is slightly NSFW:

She melted into his touch and closed her eyes. “Being around you is so…relaxing.”

“I’ve never heard that before. People are usually tense around me.”

“You’re different.”

“We’ve already established that.” He took a step closer and his other hand caressed her hip.

Sookie brought her hands up between them and explored the smooth plane of crisp cotton that covered his chest. “I want you.” Sookie bit her lip and squeezed her eyes shut. “I’m not usually this blunt. You’ve scrambled my brain or something.”

Eric laughed quietly and stared into her eyes. “I want you too.” His mouth fell on top of hers, igniting a fire inside her. His lips were as cool as his fingers, and she couldn’t get enough.

“You’re yummy.” Sookie grinned and her head swam. She was glad she’d only had one drink. She wanted to remember every moment with Eric for the rest of her life.

Eric’s mouth moved down the side of her neck, licking and sucking as he went. He trailed kisses along her exposed shoulder and then across her collarbone. He tugged the material down, revealing her other shoulder and letting the material of her dress rest loosely against her breasts.

Sookie wiggled out of her wings, letting them drop to the ground. She took a sharp breath in as he kissed the slope of her breast. Her whole body tensed.

Eric stopped, his mouth hovering an inch above her skin. “I’m not going to hurt you. You have to trust me.”

Sookie nodded and let him back her up against the wall. Instead of bending over her as he’d done before, Eric fell to his knees. His face was level with her breasts. “You’re really tall.”

“It’s very helpful.” His tongue darted out, dipping between her breasts and disappearing inside the fabric of her dress. His angelic face was tilted up to hers as he kissed her skin. She watched as he pulled the top of the dress down, exposing her breasts completely. The costume slid down her waist and hung from her hips, showing a trace of her white panties. His eyes closed as he nuzzled her skin, and when he sucked her nipple into his mouth, she almost came. Her body arched away from the wall and he held her firmly, sucking one and then the other nipple into his mouth. He inhaled deeply. “You smell delicious.” He inhaled again, and this time, his face moved south until it was level with the waistband of her panties. When he looked at her again, he was no longer angelic. He had been transformed into a wild beast. The blue in his eyes was nearly gone and he looked as hungry as she felt.

“Eric.” His name came out on a breath.

“Say it again.” He nipped at her panties and gripped her ass, pulling her firmly against his face.

“Eric.” She dug her fingers into his hair.

Spoilers: Sookie’s Present

I’ve been working on a little somethin’ somethin’ inspired by Erica’s story idea. Here’s a sneak peek. I’m hoping to get another round of edits done before I post the full first chapter. Enjoy!

“Dawn, are you sure this is a good idea?”

Dawn was drumming on the steering wheel to the beat of the music. “Of course it’s a good idea. What better way to celebrate your twenty-first birthday? Mardi Gras is a party like nothing you’ve ever seen before. It’s also the best place to treat yourself to your special present.” She winked.

Sookie grinned. “A very special present.” She’d been waiting her whole adult life for this special present: having sex. Bon Temps wasn’t the right place for that. New Orleans, on the other hand, was the perfect destination to be wild and anonymous.

Dawn patted her leg. “I’ll help you find someone. Don’t worry. We’ll be staying on Bourbon Street. Right in the middle of all the action. Last year I got forty-four necklaces. This year, I’m aiming for fifty.”

“Fifty?” Sookie swallowed hard. Dawn really knew how to party.

“Yep.” She nodded. “Maybe once you get a little booze in you, you’ll get some too.”

Once they checked into their hotel room, Dawn opened her suitcase. When Sookie saw what was inside, the huge piece of luggage made sense. It was filled to the brim with costumes.

“What do you want to wear? I’ve got a devil, angel, fairy, a bunch of wigs, this leopard-printed body suit, and face masks.” Dawn covered the bed with various outfits. “The parade starts soon, so we should get ready now.”

Sookie ran her fingers over the silky material of the fairy costume. “I like this one.”

Dawn smiled. “Good choice. Here are your wings.” They were tiny and purple, just like the rest of the costume.

Glamoured: Chapter 14 Spoiler

Here it is… a little something to tide you (my lovely followers) over while I get the rest of this big ol’ chapter written. 🙂 Charlaine Harris owns almost everything. I own the rest. All mistakes belong to me. Happy Friday!

Eric’s words hung in the air.

My plans?” Sookie swallowed hard. Her heart was racing.

“Yes. Should I take you home?” He had to make sure she was ready. No more mistakes. He could wait forever, if he had to. “Or…”

“Or maybe, you could take me to your house?” Sookie whispered as she looked into the empty dish in front of her, with only the barest trace of chocolate still remaining.

For a moment, Eric was sure his heart was going to start beating again. “Nothing would please me more.” He pushed away from the table, left a pile of cash, and escorted her outside. She shivered in the cool night air. He wanted nothing more than to warm her up, but that would have to wait.

“Miss Stackhouse,” Eric said as he opened her door and held her hand while she tried to maneuver into the passenger seat of his car. The short hem of her dress slid up, revealing more of her delicious tanned skin.

Sookie mumbled her thanks as he joined her.

His house was a five-minute drive. It was the longest five minutes of his life. Sookie was oddly quiet, which was making him anxious. By the time he pulled into his driveway, he was a bundle of nerves.

“It’s a beautiful house.” Sookie’s arms were locked behind her back as she walked around the living room.

“Thank you.” He suddenly wasn’t sure what to do with his hands, so he stuffed them in his pockets. “Can I offer you some…water?” he finished lamely.

“No, I’m perfect.” She blushed as she turned to face him. “I mean, contentedly full from dinner.”

“I think you’re perfect.”

Sookie laughed. “Hardly. Oh, before I forget, thank you for dinner.”

“You’re welcome.”

“And thank you for changing your business. There aren’t many men who would do that for a woman.”

“For the right woman.” He brushed a strand of her hair out of her face.

“How do you always know what to say?” She frowned. “You make me feel so…special. And not in the you’re-a-freak kind of special, which is what I’m used to.”

“You are special. There’s nothing ordinary about you.” He caressed her cheek.

She leaned into his hand and closed her eyes. “I’m nervous.”

“Me too,” he admitted.

“I make you nervous?” Her eyes danced.

New story coming soon…

It’s been a long time, I know…I just had to let y’all know that a new story is brewing and hopefully the wait won’t be much longer.

I am the kind of person who feels incredibly guilty about not delivering the goods on a more timely basis, so I feel the need to justify my slowness. First, my publisher loves my second book, so I’ve been working like a dog (an industrious one) to get the rewrites and edits done so they will offer me a contract (fingers crossed!). Second, it’s summer, which means I have no free time. Third, I suck.

To make it up to you, here’s a little tease from the new story, inspired by Whew Hot Blooded. Please note, no one besides me has edited this (or even told me it was a half-way decent story) so all mistakes are my own.:

Microphone feedback squealed through the room, stopping the frenzy of movement and noise.

The curtains behind the stage ruffled. The room was so quiet Sookie could hear her heart beating. It was racing. She wasn’t so different than the rest of these people.

“Ladies and gentlemen,” a silky voice purred through the surround sound. “Prepare to be GLAMOURED!” A woman in a black leather corset pushed through the curtain. Her face was sweet…except for the fangs.
