Eric stood in her room, dazed and confused. “What just happened?” he asked.
He had just been used for sex.
“That’s what I do.” Always the user, never the used. Not until now.
She had left something behind when she departed: a hunger for more. What began as a quicky could’ve easily become an all night fuck-fest. But that didn’t happen, he reminded himself. She left. She pushed him away, got dressed, and walked out of the room.
He sat on the end of her bed and pulled his pants and socks and shoes on. I didn’t even get to kiss her. He frowned. We skipped that part. With his robe draped over his arm he walked toward the door, stopping to pick up the scrap of material that had been her panties. He inhaled her heady scent and his dick sprang to life.
On a whim, he decided to leave her a note on the pad of paper next to the phone.
You should come see me some time. Room 707.
He put the message on her pillow and left. He took the elevator to the seventh floor, hung up his robe, and changed into a cornflower blue shirt and put his ID badge over his head.
The wedding reception was still in full swing when he got back down to the main level, but he couldn’t see Sookie anywhere, so he went into the Convention Hall and stalked over to the table to join Pam and Bill.
Bill had been working on his vampire database for months, but the booth looked like it had been thrown together that night. A sign read VAMPIRE IDENTIFICATION across the top, with a smaller sign below: TRACK DOWN ANY VAMPIRE, ANYWHERE, ANYTIME. ALL YOU NEED IS A COMPUTER-SMART MINION.
Eric hated him for coming up with the idea, which turned out to be more profitable than anyone had hoped. Of course the queen would see a large portion of that, but still, Bill had done very little work for a huge payoff. Eric hated him for other reasons as well, and the database wasn’t helping.
Bill had offered ten percent of his profit to Pam if she would help him, so she did. She wore a silly costume – as per Bill’s request – and even smiled at customers.
“Have you met anyone new?” Eric asked Pam while Bill discussed German vampires at length with a customer.
Pam sat slumped in a chair. “No.” She narrowed her eyes and inhaled. “But it seems as though you have.”
He smiled. He hadn’t wanted to shower because Sookie’s scent clung to his skin. She had made a big deal about secrecy, but he didn’t give a shit if Pam knew.
“Who is she?” Pam asked, sliding off her chair and getting closer to him for a better sniff.
“The one Bobby was blathering about?” Pam rolled her eyes.
“I can see why he would be so shaken by her. She’s unnerving.”
She frowned. “What does that mean?”
“She knows what she wants and she knows how to get it. It’s not a quality you find in humans very often.” He watched and waited for the rest of the night, but didn’t see Sookie again. When he got inside his coffin just before sunrise, he held the remnants of her panties against his skin, and when he woke that night, her name was on his lips. He needed to find her. Now.
After a quick shower, he made his way up to the queen’s suite and knocked on the door. Andre answered and ushered him inside. The room bustled with vampires and demons, but only one human: Sookie. He smiled, but she didn’t look at him.
“Just the man I wanted to see!” Sophie-Anne said, getting up from her perch to greet him.
“Why is that?” Eric asked, eying Sookie nervously.
“We must go, my queen, Texas is waiting for you,” Andre said, cutting into their conversation and taking her by the elbow.
Sophie-Anne smiled. “So much to do. There’s never a dull moment. I’m simply overwhelmed with the tasks I have ahead of me. I will find you when I have a spare minute!”
Sookie cleared her throat. “I can bring him up to speed, if you like.”
“Would you? That would save me so much time.” The queen disappeared out into the hall, her staff following her, leaving Eric and Sookie with the dark-haired vampire she had danced with the night before.
“Bring me up to speed?” he asked.
“On the queen’s plans to wed Texas,” she replied coolly. “We should discuss the matter in private. I’d hate to be interrupted. There’s a lot to go over.” She lifted a stack of paperwork off the desk and clutched it to her chest. “I’ll see you downstairs, Rasul.”
The vampire nodded to her and glared at Eric. He had heard of Rasul before, but never formed his own opinion until right then. He immediately disliked him and fought the urge to stake him.
She started the journey down to the elevator. Eric followed, keeping his distance. She pushed the button for the seventh floor.
He smothered a smile. She read my note. When the doors slid open, he pointed down the hall toward his room and hoped that Pam had already left. He sighed with relief when he stepped inside. Sookie strolled over to the table, put the papers down, and then turned to face him.
She walked over to him and, without a word, began unbuttoning her shirt. It fluttered to the floor. She smiled, for the first time since their encounter the previous night. Next, she unzipped her skirt, stepping out of it as she finished her short journey to him. Her bra and panties fell at their feet.
Eric remained frozen where he stood, unable to move. Well, everything except his dick, which seemed to have a mind of its own. To his great delight, she caressed him through his pants. She smiled as her grip tightened and then she unbuttoned his pants and plunged her hot little fingers inside, circling his cock tightly. She pumped him a couple of times.
“Take your shirt off,” she demanded. He happily obliged, whipping it over his head. Still firmly holding his hard-on, she took a step back, leading him to the table where her papers waited for her. She turned away from him, bent over the table, and then spread her legs.
He gripped the base of his dick and rubbed it against her sex, making her whimper. He wanted to hear her beg, so he didn’t go any further.
“Please,” she whispered.
Eric swiveled his hips. “Did you say something?”
She contorted her arm and slid her hand between her legs, cupping his balls and trying to pull him closer. She grunted in frustration. “Please!” she begged.
“I want to come,” she said.
Cum trickled out of his cock, only making everything more slippery. “How can I help you with that?” he teased.
She growled. “Fuck me!” she demanded.
“Gladly,” he said, pushing inside her to the hilt.
Sookie gasped and moaned and arched her back like a cobra. Eric reached around and cupped both of her breasts, squeezing them as he pulled out and slammed back in. She braced herself against the table, knocking the papers onto the floor. She didn’t seem to notice or care.
“Yes!” she screamed.
He drove into her harder and faster, taking her breath away until there was nothing left. The veins in her neck bulged when she came. He kept his mouth closed, trying to ignore the impulse to bite her, and focused on the sensation of her hot pussy clenching around him over and over. Unwilling to give in to his release so quickly, he continued to thrust into her, bridging her from one orgasm to the next.
She panted hard, resting her face against the smooth surface under her. He slowed his rhythm and used the lull to trace the delicate bones in her spine and the fleshy curves of her ass. She trembled under his hands and lifted her ass slightly. “More,” she said, her words muffled against the table.
He gripped her hips, holding her steady as he increased his pace. Each time their bodies met, she moaned and her muscles tensed. It had been ages since he’d had sex with someone who enjoyed it as much as she did, which only encouraged him to please her as much as possible.
Another scream erupted out of her throat, spilling onto the table and filling the room. The noise sent him over the edge and he came inside her, his hips jerking erratically.
He molded his body to hers and kissed the back of her neck and the top of her shoulder. Her hot breath came out in ragged puffs.
“I can’t breathe,” she finally whispered.
The second he stood upright, she gasped for breath and twisted away from him. “Sorry,” he said, leaning against the table.
She smiled and inhaled. “Don’t apologize. It was my idea.”
Just like that, she started getting dressed. “Sookie, I—”
“She’s waiting for me.” She bent over and scooped up her papers, placing them carefully on the desk again. “As you know, Louisiana is weak. Katrina really did a number on headquarters, and the vultures have already started circling.” She rolled her eyes. “You should hear what Arkansas plans to do to us.”
He frowned and pulled her between his legs, hoping that might encourage her to stop zipping up her skirt. It didn’t work.
“Anyway,” she went on, oblivious to his efforts, “our state would benefit from a marriage, and so I suggested Texas. I’ve always liked Stan.” She twisted and picked up one of the folders, showing him the first page of a thick legal document. “Last night, before anyone could do or say anything to stop us, we set up the whole thing.” She laughed. “And when I say we I really mean Mr. Cataliades. He’s the queen’s attorney.”
“I know Desmond,” Eric said, spreading his fingers across her ass and kneading her warm flesh.
“I can’t wait to see the look on Arkansas’ face when he finds out the queen is already taken.” Her eyes glittered. “That’s why she wanted to see you, to officiate their wedding.”
He pulled her firmly against his hard dick. “I thought she might’ve found out about us.”
Sookie shook her head. “Nope.” A hint of lust flashed across her face. “And she’s not going to. I waited until you were gone last night and then returned to my room to shower, which is where I’m going right now.” She gave him a quick smile and pulled away from him again. “Thanks for the orgasms.” She touched the front of her hips gingerly before picking up her papers. “Maybe next time we’ll make it to a bed.”
With that, she walked out, leaving him naked and alone. Again.
Despite the overwhelming desire and frustration, happiness soothed him. Next time.
