Chapter 10

Sookie’s POV

Sookie smiled when she pulled away from Eric. She almost felt normal again. A normal she hadn’t experience since before she met Bill. The spell had definitely worked. She couldn’t detect a hint of longing for him. In fact, she didn’t care about him in the slightest. The only feeling that lingered was the anger of betrayal. He had used her and she wouldn’t forgive him for that. “He’s gone,” she announced.

Eric smiled.

Sookie hugged him and then got to work making her food. She laughed as she put her plate on the table. “I look like one of those 1950’s housewives from an old sitcom. I feel like I should serve you a martini or something.”

She nodded. “You’re like a giant ice pack. Remind me to call you when I get sick.” She smiled at the thought of seeing him again, but frowned when she realized they would have to leave soon. “When is your boss coming?” she asked, finishing her meal.

“She’s not. We’re going to her. Tomorrow night,” he added sounding like she felt: miserable.

Sookie started doing dishes, keeping her back to him. “So you talked to her?”

“Yes, I called after Octavia left.” The next time he spoke, she could feel his breath on her neck. “I talked to her about my promise.”

She turned to face him, their bodies almost touching. “And?”

“I don’t know.” Everything in her life would change, and that scared her. “What do you think?”

“She’ll pay you well, you’ll have great benefits, you’ll get to live in a big city, and you could go to college if you want.”

She grinned. “You make a compelling case.”

“Plus, you could see me,” he murmured as his dick hardened inside her.
