What do you mean by “squicky”? Is that a combination of “squeamish” and “icky”? Sorry, but this engineer is super literal and I am curious what is was your editor didn’t like. Thanks!

    • That was my interpretation of the word, too. It was one she used, not me. I’m not sure if you’ve read Getaway, if not, check out Blood Lust (Chapter 13, I believe) to get an idea of what I wrote. Apparently, my publisher thought that having a vampire feeding directly from menstrual blood was crossing the line. No wonder I’ve never read anything like it in a book, everyone keeps away from the subject with a ten foot pole! In my opinion, it seemed like a natural step for a human/vamp couple. Before writing the scene in my book, I actually asked an editor at a different publisher to see if it would be okay and she didn’t have a problem with it. Of course, that house rejected me, and the one that offered me a contract had a huge problem with it. It took me a week to re-write those four chapters!! I wish I had known… Oh well, you live and learn, huh? πŸ˜‰
