Chapter 8

Eric’s POV

Within a half hour, a group of young men came in, taking the table closest to Sookie and Beth and ordered two pitchers of beer. A particularly friendly man turned in his chair and started talking with them, as if they were old friends. He scooted his chair close to Sookie and said something that made Beth laugh out loud.

Eric’s blood boiled, but he stood behind the bar, patiently waiting for Sookie to tell him to go away. It never happened. The man got closer and closer, and at one point, Sookie leaned toward him and whispered into his ear.

“That’s it,” he muttered and stormed across the room. He loomed over the man, growling. “She’s mine,” he said between clenched teeth.
