Stay: Chapter 8

Charlaine Harris owns almost everything. I own the rest. All mistakes are my own.

I posted a tag line for my new story, Third Time’s The Charm, on my home page. There are no links or spoilers…yet. I hope you enjoy the last chapter of Stay. It’s definitely NSFW. 😀

Chapter 8

Sookie’s POV

Birds chirped outside the window, waking Sookie gently. She stretched her stiff body and then touched the floor of the closet and smiled, overcome with a calm she only experienced around Eric. She put a suitcase on top of it and then took a deep breath. She had some major cleaning to do.

Bracing herself, she walked into the front room. Her mouth hung open as she surveyed the floor. It’s clean! The floor gleamed in the bright morning sun. The couch had been moved slightly and she couldn’t find the old rug, but those were the only signs anything had happened. Everything was tidy. Eric had even folded the blanket on the back of the couch.

She sat down and cried. She let her sorrow for Bill flow out of her until there was nothing left but her gratitude for Eric. He’s saved me and helped me on countless occasions. He’s always there for me. He makes me smile like no one else can. She wanted nothing more than to be with him. While she showered, she thought of what she was going to say to him that night, and Thank You was at the top of her list. But showing was always better than telling…

Sookie was scheduled to work the dinner shift, and because it was Saturday, it was the best night for tips, so she figured she wouldn’t have any trouble finding a replacement.

Five minutes later, she hung up the phone after talking to Arlene, who was happy to cover for Sookie and earn a little extra cash. With that out of the way, she dialed Merlotte’s. The bar didn’t open for another half hour, but she knew Sam would be there.

“Merlotte’s,” Sam’s voice answered.

“Hey Sam, it’s Sookie.”

“What’s up, cher?”

“Arlene’s going to cover for me tonight.”

The phone was silent and then he answered in a slow voice, “Did something happen to you?”

Sookie fought tears, but it was no use. “Yeah. Last night after the game, Bill … attacked me.”

“That son of a bitch!” Sam growled. “Do you need me to come over? What happened? Are you okay?”

“I’m fine.” She took a deep breath and decided to tell him everything. “He was hiding in my house, and when I got home he grabbed me. He hurt me, but before it got worse, Eric showed up, and while Bill was distracted, I staked him.” The truth. Harsh and honest out there for someone else to judge her for.

You staked Bill?”

She wiped her cheeks. “It was self-defense. He was so angry, and so rough, and…” She inhaled deeply and let out a shaky breath. “He was trying to rape me, Sam.”

“Oh, cher. I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t tell anyone, okay? I just need some time to relax.”

“Of course. Let me know if you need anything.”

Sookie thanked him and then hung up. Another day to herself and she couldn’t think of anything better to do with her time than sprawl in the sun while she waited for Eric to get up.

With a giant glass of sweet tea, a pair of sunglasses, and her smallest bikini, she stretched out in her favorite spot. The sun felt good on her skin, easing the pain on her ribs and lip. An hour before the sun set, the cool evening air forced her inside. She pulled on the Fangtasia T-shirt Pam had given her weeks before. It was plenty long to cover her. She ate a quick meal and as she cleaned up, a clattering noise came from the front bedroom.

Sookie smiled and popped a bottle of blood in the microwave. Eric walked into the kitchen just as it dinged. “Perfect timing, as per usual.” She inverted the warmed bottle and handed it to him.

His eyes swept down her body, lingering on her bare legs. “The T-shirt suits you.”

She took a deep breath and turned back to the dishes in the sink. “It’s big enough to be a dress. It’s the perfect cover up.”

“What are you covering up?” He stood right behind her.

She could feel his cool body inches away. “My bikini. I was sunbathing earlier.”

Eric inhaled and held his breath. “I can smell the sun on your skin.”

She glanced over her shoulder. His fangs were out and his eyes were glazed over. He snapped out of it and downed the bottle of blood in two long swallows, making the muscles in his long neck ripple. “How did you sleep?”

He put the bottle in the sink. “Like the dead. You?”

Sookie chuckled. “Same.”

His tongue darted out of his mouth. “How are you feeling?” His thumb brushed against her swollen lip. “Better?” His eyebrows joined in a hopeful arch.

“A little.” She touched her ribs lightly.

“Can I heal you?” He brought his finger to his fang and waited for her answer.

His blood would heal her in no time flat. She had plans that would be much better if she wasn’t bruised. “I would like that.”

He pricked his finger and then rubbed a little blood on her bottom lip. The pain subsided immediately.

“Is that the only place?”

She shook her head slowly. “My ribs.” She started lifting the hem of the shirt, pulling it up slowly. When she got it off her head, she dropped it on the floor. Her heart pounded in her chest. He had seen her partially naked on a couple of occasions, but she had never felt more exposed.

Eric’s mouth fell open and he swallowed loudly, and then he fell to his knees in front of her. Eyelevel with her breasts, he sank back on his heels and touched the angry red scrapes. The wound in his finger had healed, so he punctured it again, and then he traced the line under her breasts.

Sookie closed her eyes and sighed. “That feels so much better. Thank y—”

Eric’s tongue darted out, cleaning her skin, and turning her words into a moan. He stopped. “Did I hurt you?”

She shook her head and sucked her lip inside her mouth. His sweet blood diffused across her tongue, making her moan again. “Eric, I want to tell you something.” Each word struggled to form in her addled brain.

He stood, facing her. “Yes?” He touched the strap of her bikini, following it down to the swell of her breast.

“Thank you.” She nodded. Yep, that’s what I wanted to tell him. And then she kissed him. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pressed her body against his. It was his turn to moan, and then his arms wrapped around her, nearly squeezing all the air out of her body.

He lifted her off the ground, so she wrapped her legs around his waist. Their mouths never stopped: tongues, teeth, lips; all moving together as they walked down the hall toward Sookie’s bedroom.

Eric put her down in the middle of her bed where she kneeled, ready for another kiss. “Is this what you were wearing the first night you came to Fangtasia to sleep?”

Sookie looked down at her bikini. “Yeah.”

His eyes glazed over. “You are so beautiful.”

She smiled and then returned the compliment. “So are you.” She pushed his shirt up, revealing the exquisite muscles that adorned his torso. He helped her by tugging the shirt over his head, and then his hands were on her again, urgently exploring the boundaries of her exposed flesh. “It’s tied in the back,” she explained, guiding his hand to the bow in the middle of her back.

The elastic material bounced against his fingers and then hung slack as her breasts spilled out of the cups. He flicked it off her neck and then she kissed him again as she scraped her nipples across his chest and worked on the button holding his jeans closed. She grunted in frustration and then sighed when it gave way. Her fingers slid inside the waistband as she tugged the zipper down. Eric thrust his tongue in her mouth at the exact moment she found his cock, sheathed in silk, and straining to be free.

He returned the favor by dipping one finger inside her bikini bottoms. A shiver went through her body as he parted her lips and traced her sex. “Are you sure you want this? Want me?” he breathed into her mouth.

“Yes. God yes.” She gripped his cock with both hands and sucked his lip into her mouth. He pushed her bottoms off and stepped out of his jeans and silky boxers, and then he was on the bed with her. “I want you,” she said.

“I have wanted you since the moment I laid eyes on you.” And then his face was between her legs. “I have wanted to do this,” he licked her slit, “and this,” he said as he thrust his tongue inside her. They both moaned and then he did it again. Over and over again.

Sookie writhed on the bed, digging her fingers into his hair to encourage him to go on. She cried out as her orgasm shook her body, but Eric didn’t let up until she was completely still.

Justlikethat, he hovered over her body and his cock nudged against her slick lips. She opened her legs and lifted her hips, controlling the speed of their union. When the head of his cock was just inside, Eric squeezed his eyes shut. Sookie moaned and then lifted herself farther, taking him all the way in.

“Ohhhhhh,” The noise came out on a breath and then her body shook.

Eric groaned and his hips jerked erratically. As he kissed her, his cock hardened inside her, and then he started thrusting. Slow and careful at first, and then she wrapped her legs around his body pulling him toward her, harder each time.

Sookie licked one of his fangs and Eric’s entire body shuddered. “Bite me.”

Eric’s wide eyes moved to the curve of her neck. He licked her skin in a rhythm that matched each movement of his hips, and then he opened his mouth.

Sookie gripped Eric’s back and lifted off the bed, forcing him to complete the bite. Pleasure rippled through her just as Eric’s cock swelled inside her for the second time. He swallowed greedily as their bodies moved in harmony. His mouth made a popping sound when he let go, replacing his fangs with his tongue, lapping at the tiny wounds.

Breathless, Sookie flopped back onto the bed and said, “Why haven’t we been doing that this whole time? I mean, sleeping’s nice, but it’s nothing compared to that.”

Eric laughed, the sound rumbled through his chest and into her body.

“Thank you for staying.” She touched the side of his face and kissed him. The metallic tang of her blood lingered on his tongue.

“I’m not going anywhere.”

“Good, because I’m not done.”

Awwww, great ending (in more ways than one) to a great story!
Can’t wait for the next one – hop to it, missy! YOUR FANS ARE *WAITING!!
*Well, waiting is defined as sitting in computer chair staring at screen whilst tapping fingers and drinking too much coffee and smoking too many cigarettes while contemplating what the hell to make for dinner*

What a fabulous story with an unforgettable ending. Can we please submit your work to TB and CH to show them that this is how it is done!
I love that Sookie had been building her trust with Eric over a few weeks. Like any of us she knew when she was ready. I also want to mention again that I love that Bill met the true death. These two have bigger fish to fry instead of leaving a sad hanger on.
Thank you for amazing ride! I look forward to your new story!

    • Aww, thanks!! I’m flattered and shaking my head over here about submitting this to CH. There’s no way in hell a super famous author like her would EVER read fanfic. Nope. Not gonna happen. I like a slow romance, but I also enjoy the jump-right-to-the-good-parts romances too. 🙂 Thank you for each and every review, you know I love them!

    • Awww, thanks!! I’m so glad you followed me from FF. I stopped posting Stay over there (as you probably noticed) since it seemed like a waste of time to do both since I knew I wouldn’t be posting the last two chapters there anyway!

I am SO glad you are enjoying the other stories. Some of the older ones have mistakes, but they also reflect where I was (with my writing skills) when I wrote them, so I have no intention of changing them now. I’m flattered that you love them! Thanks for the love for my writing. I always love getting feedback and getting to hear about what you enjoyed in each story (it helps me fine-tune my future stories), so please review away… Thank you again, I’m so glad you found me! 🙂

    • Thank you so much! It was pretty sweet and slow, and I’m glad you liked that sort of thing. Love always gives the best sex, as far as I’m concerned. I’m not sure that made much sense. It’s late, my brain is malfunctioning! 🙂 Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed it! New story coming soon! 🙂

You knew they’d get there…it just took some time, that’s all. 🙂 I love a smart Sookie. Nothing quite like it, is there? I’ll be sure to post a spoiler when I created the new story’s page. 🙂 Thanks for reviewing!

Okay, sexy heroic Eric, smart Sookie, dead Bill, that says it all. As usual, your story was a wonderful tale without long drawn out angst. (I like that, too, I’m a bit of a masochist. 🙂 ) Your stories are like a small yet satisfying bite of sweet and savory. What’s the next story about? patsy

    • Patsy! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I thought you might like a dead Bill and lemony Eric. Who doesn’t? 🙂 Thank you so much for the lovely review!!

As for the next story, it is a rewrite of All Together Dead, not from the beginning…just from the part where Sookie finds out the truth about Quinn. Of course, my Sookie already knows that Eric was the one that got away, so good things are bound to happen when she gets another chance with him. I’ll post a spoiler soon…

Hello-I am new to your blog and have started reading a few of your short stories. I really enjoyed this one. I love a slow burn Eric/Sookie story and this was great. I like how he still teased her but never pressured her and how she didn’t get angry and question why she felt better around him, she just accepted it and did it.
