Stay: Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Eric’s POV

It didn’t take long for Sookie’s breath to even out. Dark circles hung under her eyes. She was clearly shaken by the attack they had endured. His attempt to calm her with meaningless conversation seemed to work on the drive to the airport, but he couldn’t take away the images of what she’d seen that night.

He pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and called Pam. He whispered, “I’m on my way home. I need a car at the airport. I’m on flight 1265.”

“Why are you whispering?” Pam replied.

“Because Sookie is sleeping on my chest and I don’t want to wake her.”

“Do tell,” Pam purred into the phone.

“We were attacked by the Fellowship of the Sun. Sookie and I left before the police arrived.”

“Were you injured?”

“I ruined my shirt. That happens a lot when I’m around Sookie.” The last time had been when he carried her dirty and broken body up to her hotel room to remove the glass fragments from her arm after she was tortured by the Fellowship. “It’s been an eventful trip.” The overhead bell chimed. “I need to go. We’re about to take off.”

“I’ll be there.”

“Thank you, Pam.”

The flight wasn’t long. The aircraft barely had time to reach cruising altitude before it began the slow descent into Shreveport. Sookie shifted once as the plane touched down, snuggling lower on his chest and wrapping her arm around his waist. He couldn’t suppress a moan as her head lolled into his lap, resting heavily against his cock.

After the plane emptied, Eric carefully scooped Sookie into his arms and carried her out, limp and warm in his arms. Every step he took was excruciating, but with his arms full, there was no way he could adjust himself. People cleared a path for him and security guards eyed him suspiciously. Sookie’s dress was splattered with blood and she looked practically dead in his arms, but no one stopped him.

Once outside, he found Pam immediately.

Pam’s mouth hung open as she looked at Sookie. “Did you drug her?”

He shook his head. “No. She’s been like this for a while. I think she’s in shock.”

“Where are we taking her?”

Eric slid into the back seat carefully, cradling Sookie against his chest. He didn’t like the idea of her being home alone, and since she wasn’t conscious, Eric made a decision for her. “My house.”

Pam let out a dry laugh and then drove. She always knew better than to question him.

When she pulled up in front of Eric’s house, she turned to face him. “What can I do to help?” Pam’s gaze lingered on the swell of Sookie’s breasts.

“She’ll need food when she wakes. I need you to go get her something. I’m going to take her inside.”

Pam rolled her eyes. “Fine, but I’m not happy about this arrangement.”

“I know.” Eric only smiled. “Open the door for me first.”

She huffed and jerked the car door open. “Can I at least carry her for a while?”

“No. Now my front door.” His grip tightened.

Pam reached into his pocket to retrieve the keys, grazing his hard-on. She laughed. “She has that effect on me too.”

Eric walked inside. “Food please.”

“Anything else?”

“Yes.”

Pam’s face brightened.

“Close the door on your way out.”

Her face fell and then she stormed out, muttering about the injustices of being invited late to the party.

Eric moved silently through his house, heading straight for the guest room. No one had ever been in his bedroom, and he intended to keep it that way.

He deposited Sookie’s nearly comatose body on the neatly made bed. His arms ached to hold her again, but he had needs that had to be attended to.

In the kitchen, he downed a bottle of blood, but it didn’t sate the hunger inside him. He opened his pants and stroked his cock, squeezing and twisting until he came. He sighed. That’s a little better.

Pam walked in a few minutes later. “Food.” She put down a bag marked with a fast food restaurant logo. “It’s the only place open at three in the morning.” She shrugged.

Eric put the bag in the fridge. “Thank you. You may leave now.”

She was already headed down the hall toward the guest room. She sighed. “Fine. See you tonight.”

Alone again, Eric made his way down the hall. He took a deep breath and then pushed the door open. Sookie’s deep, even breathing filled the room. He pulled the covers back and stretched out next to her, tucking his hands behind his head.

“No. No!” Sookie’s sleepy voice was distraught.

“Sh, you’re safe.” Eric stroked her hair, soothing her, carefully avoiding the bruises blooming across her skin.

Sookie murmured in her sleep and then rolled over and nestled against his side. Her warm legs drew up against his body as her arm wrapped around him. He shifted until her face rested against his chest again. Heat came off her in waves, and the temptation to touch her became increasingly difficult to resist. And then she draped her leg across him, rousing his dick for the third time that evening.

She sighed and fell back into a deep sleep.

Eric had never been more awake in all his life.

Poor Eric! Doesn’t know whether he’s “up” or “down”. I hope Sookie doesn’t do her usual thing and go off her nut because Eric was, oh my goodness, actually looking after her *sarcastic drawl* 😀

Thank you for the wonderful gift! I enjoyed it much better than the dinner with the hubs and kids – sorry, it was nice BUT refereeing while eating salad does not a good meal make! I think waking up next to the Viking would be an even better gift!

    • LOL I am SO with you on that. It’s hilarious that Mother’s Day is focused on pampering moms, but how is that possible when the kids continue to come to you for every little thing? I can’t just take a day off, you know? 🙂 I know I seem like an insensitive jerk, but there’s something beautiful in having a real day off (one where you’re one place and the kids are in another!). Anyway, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I hope you have a lovely day! 🙂

Well, if you are an insensitive jerk I am too! We can get shirts LOL. Sometimes (when I have had enough) I jokingly say that I am going to run away and they ask where WE are going. If I could go to the bathroom without someone banging on the door it would be nice. As for alone time – my hubs seems to think that going to the grocery store does the trick – he is obviously delusional. Hope you had a lovely day as well!

      • Thank goodness I’m not alone! We’ll be insensitive jerks together!! 🙂 What I would love is a blissful night of uninterrupted sleep. I won’t be getting that tonight since my tiny girl is sick (again-thanks school!). Going to the store alone is nice for a little refresher, but we do need a deep recharge at some point. That’s not too much to ask is it? I’m hoping to get that soon…I need it. 🙂

Ok, sorry this is books not TB, disregard my previous comment as we all know there is no way to save TB at this point. I’m having a hard time remembering the books at this point because I only read these parts once, I would always start re-reading with club dead when Eric had more page time then stop before Sookie got too annoying. Never read the last two because by that time I had discovered writers like you and could see no reason to torture myself that way. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! For saving the characters with every story!

    • LOL no worries. I actually just watched the best scenes from TB season 2 and know what you were talking about… There really is no way to save TB, is there? God, don’t even get me started on season 4. Ugh. When I went back through the books to tag Eric sections, I had to skim through most of it because it’s all whiney, bitchy, horribleness with Sookie. I couldn’t read the last two books either. After 11 and the train wreck of Eric and Sookie having ‘monkey sex’ I’d had enough.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this. 🙂 I’m always here to save them from their book/TB fate. 🙂

I was so thrilled to find your work years ago and I enjoy reading how it all should have happened! I mean Sookie was never in a romantic relationship until 25 but she has been around people. Being a telepath should’ve given her an advantage when it comes to knowing how to handle situations and dealing with people, and yet CH writes her as a simpering fool. • Happy Mother’s Day and/or Sunday to you as well. 😉 Come on now, you know flattery will get you everything. You’re just trying to butter me up so I’ll post another chapter, aren’t you? 🙂 I will say this in CH’s defense: she writes one hell of an action/angst sequence. I can’t compete with that. I write happy ever afters and resolved problems. I haven’t sold out, and it shows…she sells millions, I’ve sold a dozen. LOL Gotta laugh about it, right? Apparently, people want the page-turner of angst, and that’s not what I write. Now, on to the chapter:

I always viewed Eric as this kind of old school gentleman (who just happens to have killed many people over the years), so when a warm and needy woman snuggles against him, he restrains himself but he’s secretly dying inside wishing he could just have her. Force won’t get him what he wants, and he knows it. 🙂 I love a man who knows the difference.

LMAO – we’re just that good!! Ok, consolidating into one, then, lol. I bet it is rough on your kids. It’s an important lesson to learn (even nice people can be bigoted against those who think differently from themselves, don’t expect fairness – ever, think what you think not because someone else says to or expects it – think it simply because it’s what you believe is right for you to think, etc), but still, it’s hard I’m sure. I had an ex who liked to believe that he knew what was best for other people to think. Yeah, he’s an ex, lol. Tell them they can’t have any honey from the bees, and that they’re not invited for dinner, either!

      • Thanks for consolidating! Yeah, I hear you. It’s a good learning experience, but it also sucks. I grew up here for part of my childhood so I know first-hand what it’s like to be left out because I’m ‘different’. People are jerks. That’s all there is to it. I hope I can teach my kids to NOT be jerks, and to maybe even open the minds of someone who is being a jerk. Honestly, some of those kids have been locked in their sheltered life and have no idea that anyone believes differently than they do. If anything, we’ll at least blow their minds a little. 🙂

I spent the day working in my garden and got to see my bees out and about and bumble bees too. It was great, but I am SO tired. Now I’m going to sit here and write. The next story I’m working on is a rewrite of book 7…only shorter. 🙂

Look at you getting a chapter up! I’m sure the world is rejoicing right now!! Despite my tired brain, I got quite a bit of writing done tonight. It might all be crap, but I’ll have to wait a few days to go over it again to see. 🙂 Do you do that too?

Thankfully I don’t remember much about “what happened when” in the books but I do remember that Sookie was pretty much retarded at the worst possible times. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!!

Me? You mean that thing where you wait after you write something, give it a few days to rest, then check it to see first and foremost if it’s pure shit and if it’s not, then check it for spelling/etc?

Yeah, no. I never have that much patience, lol. I’ll get it down on virtual paper, look it over twice, get sick of seeing the same words over and over, click publish and run away laughing…

      • I totally agree. If there were a way to reach into the books and slap Sookie silly every time she did something stupid, she’d be bruised! I just saw another promo for TB and I didn’t see Eric in there anywhere. I tried to explain why this was such a bad thing to my husband, and he just looked at me with that ‘You think Askars is hot and that’s the only reason you want him to be alive.’ look and walked away. 🙂 Seriously, if they kill Eric, I’m going to be very disappointed.

Huh. It’s funny how you know exactly what I mean and then deny it up and down. Thanks for making me feel like a weirdo for sitting on a story for so long before publishing. 🙂 Keeps me busy at least. I do like the idea of you running away laughing. Of course, I imagine maniacal laughter. Is that right?

Maniacal laughter? Is there any other kind?? *innocent face* I’ve advised other writers to do that thing where you wait and stuff, but I’m definitely a “do as I say, not as I do” kind of person. If I did the “wait and re-read” thing every story I write would be twice as long cause I just KNOW I’d double every chapter.

Heh, of course we want Eric to live – he’s sexy as all fuck-out! D’uh!! 😉

      • I know, right? Who in this world doesn’t have a huge crush on Eric? Dumb people, that’s who! 🙂

Glad to know you’re doling out advice you have no intention of following. It’s also good that you know your weakness (doubling chapters is a weakness, right? I’m not sure your reader would think so!). In any case, you do what works for you. That’s the key to enjoying writing. 🙂

I also click many, many other sites when I’m “writing” – Imgur is research, right?

      • Oh yes…research is the best.

I just got a ff message from Kittyinaz warning me of a witch hunt going on over there and my account possibly being deleted. I just spent the last half hour re-reading through some of my edited stories and can’t figure out what they’re going to get me with. Do you still have an account over there? I don’t know what else to do to ‘clean up’ my stories. Seriously…so frustrating!

In my “””humble””” opinion, since you have your own site and everything, you have 3 options:

1: leave everything as it is and mentally tell the sex-deprived rabid-nun brigade at ff to fuck off,

2: go into your stories and delete all but the first chapter of each one and have the 2nd chapter point readers to your WP site b/c of the sex-deprived rabid-nun brigade, or

3: spend several good hours of your life figuring out how to get back to ALL your old chapters, remove EVERYTHING SEXUAL from them, then reload them.

Now, here’s a site where you can save your reviews if you want to for when/if they kill your stories: http://storymaster.the-code-monkey.com/story-master-v-2-0-beta/ .

At this point I couldn’t give a shit less what ff does w/ mine in a way. I’m sick and tired of their retarded bullshit. They have an M rating, but they don’t want it to be about SEX. Srsly.

The powers-that-don’t over on FF have rolled over and are gladly taking it up the ass from the slavering nuns who run around all over the site just aching to find yet another story to run and tattle-tell on – I’ve begun wondering if they don’t get commission from the Church of Don’t Know Shit About Fanfics.

I’d gladly leave FF behind with a fart and a fuck you, but that’s, unfortunately, where most readers know to come to find new stories and writers.

Heh, I have a mini-rant in my profile about it: https://www.fanfiction.net/u/4102606/InvertedMeridian

      • I love your opinion…and I’m stumped, because I’ve already done #3. I’ve edited every single chapter of every story (except Getaway because there’s no way I could edit 67 chapters of pure smut) and reposted them. That’s why I can’t figure out what they’re up in arms about. I love getting new readers through ff, which is why I continue to post there even though it’s a huge pain in my ass. Ugh. Thanks for the info on how to save my reviews. I need to look into that (apparently) since I’m on the edge of being kicked out (again).

Thanks for your wisdom, support, and hilariousness. ❤

      • I just can’t figure it out…that’s why I’m so frustrated! Two years ago, when I got my first ‘warning’ from a fan, I said, “Oh shit, I better start following the rules!” I was terrified I would lose the one little bit of sanity I was holding onto if I lost my account, so I happily spent hours editing and creating this little wordpress. Of course I was still breaking their rules by posting MA content for a few days and then I’d edit…so people wouldn’t have to follow me here if they didn’t want to (and were on top of reading fast enough to catch the unedited story). My last mistake was leaving the final chapter of La Vie En Rose up on ff. Oops. The funny thing there was that it was up for almost a year before it got on their radar. Now? I have no idea! Seriously. I’d really like to punch ff in the face.

I am SO with you there. I swear they must have some of the most bored people on the planet who make lists of writers to harass. And what I really don’t get? WHY don’t they have a true M, or more specifically, an MA, rating? I mean, srsly, TRUE BLOOD?? What do they think Eric and Sookie are gonna do – sit around and knit tampon holders???

      • LOL Oh god, the visual!! LOL

I’m sorry, but EVERYONE in the world knows that the whole purpose of FF is smut. Chris Hardwick talks about it on @midnight all the time. It’s common knowledge! All they would need is a 18+ filter like so many sites have, including this one! I’ve reported my wordpress as mature, so everyone knows it before entering!

And yes, they must have LOADS of free time. Get a real hobby.

        *knitting tampon holders
*knitting tote bags to carry around their self-righteousness (you know that shit’s bound to be heavy…)
*restoring old little red wagons to carry around their egos (you know their egos have GOT to be ginormous thinking that they have the right to censor what others can read)
*inventing portable enemas (cause they’re so damn full of shit)

I doubt I’ll win anything because I *am* up against some awesome writers, but it’s so much fun – and such an ego-booster – just to be NOMINATED!! 😀

        Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Naima mentioned something about nominations in a ff message, but I opened it too late to post anything, so I just assumed I hadn’t been nominated. Thanks for surprising me. Now, am I going to choose the red pill or the green pill? Which is the one that takes me further into the rabbit hole?

The blue one….always the blue one…unless you have access to the orange one… 😀

I never received a notice on FF for either me or CollidingMuse (JR Watkins and I co-wrote Dodge and Chase), so…I dunno. They may have contacted HER about it – I think they did – knowing that I’d know about the nomination eventually since I’m friends w/ “the authority panel” and queen beta for Kittyinaz anyway.

But yeah, I feel like a little kid playing in THE BIG DOG’S sandbox when I write, but hey, it’s fun, and I must not be too bad, lol. 😀

  20. Such a great chapter, I’m really liking this rewrite. As much as I liked this book and the way it developed s/e relationship I never understood how she forgave bill for how he treated her. Thanks for posting.

    • If you recall, the ‘forgiveness’ scene is brutal and horrifying. It never sat well with me, which is the whole reason I wrote this story: to write that wrong (and to make Eric the vehicle to make it happen). I am so glad you’re enjoying my take on things, there are more chapters coming… Thank you for reviewing!

Thank you for the wonderful treat. Just love how you warm us up and then go for HOTNESS.
Really love how Eric take control of the situation. And such a gentleman. Would like to see Sookie dump Bill Beeell ass first tho… It would make being with Eric so much better.
Btw, i too would like to sleep on Eric’s lap…i think we all do.
It funny how i do picture Alexandle Skarsgard as my forever Eric (so sexy).

You’re cracking me up with your mom/new mom comments. I do what I can to make people happy, and sex is certainly the easiest and most natural way to make that happen. 🙂 Eric is always a gentleman, at least in my world he is! 🙂 Sookie’s not going to be a complete idiot either…so you’ll have that to look forward to. 🙂 Thank you so much for your lovely review. I hope you had a great day! 🙂
